Apple cake

Simple ingredients, fresh apples and the wonderful aroma of a homemade cake fresh from the oven. Soft, moist and full of flavor, this apple cake is perfect to enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea, any time of the day.

Ingredients:

- 420 g apples
- 150 g all-purpose flour
- 120 g sugar
- 60 g unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 90 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- Zest of ½ lemon
- 8 g baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Powdered sugar (optional)
Preparation

Whisk the eggs and sugar until the mixture becomes light, pale and fluffy.

Add the melted butter, milk, lemon zest, cinnamon, flour and baking powder. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.

Fold the diced apples into the batter, pour it into the prepared cake pan and arrange the remaining apple slices on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 50–55 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
